GSES International Office will hold a Study Tour to Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture, themed:
“Learning Pottery Culture and Exploring the Sustainability of Shigaraki Ware.”

Join us to learn about Japan’s traditional pottery culture, “Shigaraki ware.”
This is a valuable opportunity to experience Japan’s pottery culture in one day—don’t miss it!
Shigaraki ware is a traditional Japanese pottery dating back to the 13th century. While deeply rooted in daily life, it also has environmental aspects, such as waste generation and resource use.

- Visit the Shigaraki Traditional Industry Exhibition Hall and Ceramic Cultural Park
- Learn about the history and craftsmanship of Shigaraki ware
- Enjoy a hands-on pottery-making experience
- Open to all Nagoya University students
- Both Japanese and English used (English friendly)
- Must attend orientation on Friday, December 5 at 18:15
- Must be available on Saturday, December 13 (Event day) with no classes or seminars
- Capacity: 30 students (lottery if oversubscribed)
- Participation fee: 3,500 including:
- Pottery experience: 1,760 yen
- Lunch: 1,400 yen

環境学研究科国際室では、12月13日（土）に「焼物文化を学び、信楽焼の持続可能性を考えよう」をテーマに、
滋賀県信楽町へのスタディツアーを実施します。
信楽焼は、1200年代から続く歴史の長い陶磁器です。
日本の庶民の生活を支えてきた一方で、廃棄物を始めとして環境問題としての側面も持ちます。
ぜひ、スタディツアーに参加して、日本の伝統文化「信楽焼」について学びませんか？
当日は信楽伝統産業会館と陶芸の森を見学し、信楽焼文化を学んだ後、実際に焼物体験を行う予定です。日本の焼物文化を1日で体験できる貴重な機会ですので、ぜひご参加ください！
