On October 10, we visited Iwamura Town for a study tour focused on tourism-based town development.
Through fieldwork and group walks, we learned from local experts about the town’s historical architecture, community-building efforts, and preservation initiatives.
Each participant explored how they could contribute to local development from an international student’s perspective.

I especially enjoyed the explanation by the local guides about the features of the traditional houses.
If I were a foreign tourist who just visited based on online reviews, I could not have such a good understanding of the differences and significance between housing designs over various periods of time in Japan.
I believe this would be the most attractive if we can expand such guidance to foreign tourists in the future.
Walking along the main street with the local instructor was the best time for me.

10月10日に環境研究科国際室主催の「岩村町スタディツアー」を実施しました!
観光を軸としたまちづくりをテーマに、フィールドワークを通じて地域の歴史や取り組みについて学びました。
地元の方々から建築やコミュニティづくり、保存地区の特徴、行政や観光協会の活動などについて話を伺い、参加者それぞれが留学生の視点から地域に貢献できる方法を考え、意見を交換しました。

特に、地元のガイドによる伝統的な家屋の特徴についての説明が良かったです。
もし自分がオンラインの口コミだけで訪れた外国人観光客であったなら、日本のさまざまな時代の住宅デザインの違いやその意義を、これほどよく理解することはできなかったと思います。
将来的にこのような案内を外国人観光客向けに拡充できれば、これが最大の魅力になると思います。
地域講師の方と一緒にメインストリートを歩いた時間がとても良く、建築や伝統、観光について多くを学べました。
お店のスタッフにも、現在や今後の観光についての意見を聞けましたし、地元の人々と交流したことも、とても興味深かったです。
